Today’s Daily Dozen features 12 men who don’t look into the lens.

A woman with bright tattoos across her chest that was part of yesterday’s Daily Dozen “Think Ink!”
Since most of the time I’m photographing people’s faces I miss out on a lot of other aspects of them. I can’t really create sets or comment on their clothes (though I do some times) or their shoes or whatnot. It’s also rare that I get photos of people’s tattoos. It seems most people (but not all) are reluctant to get something as permanent as a tattoo on their face. I think that’s a wise decision myself. People do get them on their arms and chest and necks though and that’s what you’ll see in today’s Daily Dozen.
As I was thinking about today’s set I was trying to decide between two themes: tattoos or armpits. As it turns out I have way more tattoo photos than armpit photos so I went with it. As always, I hope you enjoy them and comments are always welcome.
Faces 315 on Flickr. From today’s Daily Dozen - The Least Favorite Faces.
I decided to take yesterday’s theme and flip it on its head to share the faces that have been viewed the least often. It really goes to show how arbitrary things are. Sure there are some basic rules around how often different kinds of faces are viewed (women get more views than men, young people more than old, etc.); but there are other things that dictate how often a picture is viewed: When was it taken? Did I share it? Is it someone I know or is known to my friends? Is it someone notable? How was it tagged? It’s worth noting that of the most popular faces there was only one man, and that was me. It’s inclusion illustrates the point about other factors. I took that photo the day I shaved off a beard I’d had for almost 10 years. People who knew me ended up sharing it and the views went way up. I think originally I’d also called it something like “Me, naked” and we all know any picture with the word “naked” in the title is going to get a lot of views. Silly. Looking at the dozen faces below, the people in them are no less appealing as people than those in the most popular faces from yesterday and I think they should have their due as well.

Today’s Daily Dozen features the 12 most popular faces from my 1000faces project.
I’m not saying these are my most favorite faces (not that I don’t like them, trust me); but they’re the ones that have been viewed the most over time. I don’t think I’d put together a list of my own favorites since that would mean some weren’t my favorites and that just wouldn’t be true. What is it about these 12 that people like so much?
Faces on Flickr. Today’s Daily Dozen features women wearing makeup.
I realize that most women wear some makeup: a bit of lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, etc. Today’s set is NOT about women wearing some makeup but women who have make their makeup an important part of their look. I make no judgements. There are faces of all sorts that look fantastic and makeup can be a big part of looking great. What do you think?
Faces on Flickr. From today’s Daily Dozen: Women with Framed Faces.
I’ve been looking at hair a lot lately. Particularly women’s hair. It strikes me that there are essentially three relationships between a woman’s hair and her face. The first is “ignore my hair” - this is the look where the hair is pulled back and the face is fully exposed. I did a set on this look a little while ago called Full Female Faces. The next is one where the hair is used almost as a screen, shielding all or part of the face. This can be intentional or incidental. My set Women with Hair in Their Faces provides some examples of this look. Today I decided to look at how women use their hair to frame their faces, how it can be used to accentuate without obscuring. Going through my 1000faces there are LOTS of examples so I had to be picky. I hope you enjoy the ones I’ve chosen. Are there other ways to think about the way women wear their hair in relation to their faces? If you think of any I’d love to hear about it.
Face on Flickr. This is from yesterday’s Daily Dozen: Power to the Hoodie!
The hoodie, they’re so comfortable. I’m wearing one right now. I went through my 1000faces and found plenty of people wearing hoodies. Some with hoods up, most with hoods down. As nice as hoodies are, there are limits. For example, you probably shouldn’t wear a hoodie to a job interview, a wedding, a funeral, etc. I can vouch that none of the photos below were taken in any of those situations.
Faces on Flickr. Here’s a man with sideburns and a soul patch from today’s Daily Dozen “Sideburns Baby Burn.” If anyone can help me figure out how to post multiple pictures to a single post I’d really appreciate it.

Here’s a girl with a really pretty face leaving a Patriot’s game on Halloween 2010. It’s from the Daily Dozen Patriots’ Faces from Happier Days.
Face - young guy with shaggy hair on Flickr.
I photographed this kid walking down the street in Montreal during August 2011. He’s got some pretty shaggy locks.
